Obviously, it’s a very successful combination, in any case: 10 dental continuing education events in 10 cities in 10 Porsche dealerships with over 20 renowned contributors – and with Dr. Bergmann as a specialist in 3D dental diagnostics.
Implantation Course for Specialists
15 implant specialists in their scrubs – on November 13 our practice resembled more an “Emergency Room” than a wellness practice: under Dr. Bergmann’s guidance, the 15 course participants were able to become acquainted with the latest trends and techniques in “bone management” (management of the jaw-bone) in live ORs and practical workshops.
Hamburg hosts world class implantology
For the 900 delegates at the 27th ICOI World Congress, Hamburg was the centre of the implantology world from 26 – 28 August: Over 50 renowned international speakers impressed the participants with a high quality scientific programme.
Dr. Bergmann was there as a member of the jury to distinguish “young implantologists” for outstanding poster presentations. “For us as implantology newcomers a brilliant opportunity to present our work to an international audience”, one participant commented. The award winners can now look forward to attending the next winter symposium in Zürs.
The focus of public attention on the best
Also the FOCUS magazine’s current 2010 Doctors List recommends
Dr. Bergmann as one of 126 qualified implant specialists in Germany. Out of more than 7500 recommendations, the FOCUS editors selected top doctors for implantology among the country’s dentists, oral surgeons and maxillofacial surgeons on the basis of interviews and from scientific questionnaires.
Experts were surveyed on their professional appraisal of colleagues as part of extensive interviews. “Professional cooperation and advanced training of dentist colleagues is very important to us”, explained Dr. Bergmann, “that’s why we are particularly happy about the excellent assessment from colleagues.”

Visit from the north
From the far north southwards to Viernheim: Dr. Eva-Liisa Soonsein accompanied us in our practice for a while. She works in the Stardent outpatient practice in Tallin, the capital of Estonia, as a dentist for oral surgery.
She had attended a curriculum for dental implantologists at the University of Frankfurt lasting several weeks. She then wanted to consolidate the theory learned on the basis of practical cases.
During here stay, Dr. Soonsein was able to make an interesting comparison between the methods and approaches in Germany and Estonia. She went away with plenty of new ideas for her own work – from the latest diagnostic options to computer-aided surgery through to the new trends in prosthetics. Her summary: So many interesting implant operations at the highest level, combined with aesthetic and full ceramic restorations could not be accomplished in such a short time in Estonia. “I’ll come again!" – a further week in Viernheim is already planned for November 2010.
The cradle of modern medicine
Aesculapius and Hippocrates – for Dr. Antonios Zagakis the medical roots of ancient Greece are by no means as fascinating as the possibilities offered by modern implantology.
As a dentist and implantologist, Dr. Zagakis from Greece took the opportunity of spending an internship week in our practice.
From digital diagnostics, computer-assisted 3D treatment planning through to navigated implant surgery and prosthetic restoration, he had the chance to accompany all the treatment steps and assist Dr. Bergmann in several areas. Dr. Zagakis sums up: “I now know how the goal for my own practice could look!”
Made in Germany
The dental company Sirona enjoys a worldwide reputation. As an experienced specialist, Dr. Bergmann provides a team of asian Sirona dealers with an insight into the practical application of the most modern digital diagnostic systems and innovative CAD/CAM solutions for fabricating high precision all-ceramic prosthetics.
Specialists from China
Anyone who travels for five hot days in June from Hong Kong to Germany to learn from German implant specialists and to experience new implantological therapy concepts in practice, must be intrigued by “dental implants”.
Ten dentists from China – all experienced implantologists – were able to participate in a training program with live operations in our practice. With his experience in digital 3D diagnostics and computer-assisted, navigated implantology, Dr. Bergmann presented his Chinese colleagues the current trends and developments in implantology.
Charity and science
As a dentist in a monastery: One week long Dr. Bergmann managed to provide dental treatment for children from the poorer city districts of Recife in north-eastern Brazil:
"The children are fantastic patients. And the twinkle in their eyes makes every effort worthwhile!”
The children attend an all-day school in the Convento Caxanga in Recife. Because dental treatment and especially fillings (dental preventive measures) and prophylaxis is "unaffordable" for these children, treatment in the monastic dental care station is offered free of charge - financed by donations. This assignment was organised and accompanied by Reinhard Guth from the company Wegold from Germany.
The Zahnärztliche Hilfsprojekt Brasilien e.V. [Dental aid project Brazil] is a private initiative from German dentists who have taken on the task of providing unbureaucratic humanitarian aid and guaranteeing basic dental care.
Dr. Bergmann succeeded in passing on his experience and knowledge as an international expert for implantology in front of 800 Brazilian colleagues. Following his aid work he travelled on with other specialists from Germany, USA and Brazil to Sao Paulo to an international implantology meeting:
“ABROSS 2010” – IX International Meeting of the Brazilian Osseointegration Academy. As part of this congress, a new implant system was also introduced on the Brazilian market: Ankylos C/X from DENTSPLY Friadent.
As one of Germany's leading practitioners working in implantology, Dr. Bergmann was instrumental in the development of this system. With numerous clinical cases he was able to pass on valuable background information to his Brazilian colleagues.
Marathon in Mannheim ...
... and our practice team right up there at the front – even before the official marathon start: On the evening before the marathon, the “big team run” was at the start – countless teams and just one almighty enemy: the inner demon! After four kilometres our team managed to cross the finishing line together and celebrate its success at the “Mannheim Schweinehundlauf” [Mannheim inner demon race] with dinner together!
A dream evening for our “dream team”
What would a practice be without a team? As a small token of appreciation for the tireless efforts of our staff, Dr. Bergmann invited the entire practice team to the Palazzo-Spiegelpalast [“Europe’s most successful gourmet theatre”] – to a fascinating culinary-acrobatic evening. Everybody was full of enthusiasm: “Great fun and a feast for all the senses!”
